See, this is why I never argue with PC over sports
I just remembered another name that my husband and I found in the Portland OR phonebook about 18 years ago: Penelope Poopstain. And in college there was an oriental (I assume) in the phone book called Whee Num Kok.

First, I don't watch sports overly much, but always root for the Cleveland teams. The only time I ever turn on the Superbowl is to see the commercials. Prof, the mayor of Baltimore did acknowledge Cleveland when the Browns became the Ravens. I gave him some good points for that. He referred to that "overnight skulk" to Indianapolis the Colts had done and apologized to Cleveland. Clevelanders have resentment against Modell rather than Baltimore.
Names - the obstectrics doctor named Dr. Payne (I'm not sure I would have wanted him in my delivery room. And when it came to the nursing staff, he lived up to his name.) Or my brother's foot doctor, Ben Suffrin.

I cut a birth announcement out of the local newspaper about 15 years ago and kept it in a scrapbook (along with a lot of other usless clippings) until summer of last year when said scrapbook was ruined in a flood.
I have no idea who the child or family was...in fact I can't even recall the child's surname...I just kept it because I thought it was one of the most amusing names I had ever seen.
Iguana Unique
Now, THAT is cruel and unusual punishment.
Also, my sister had a friend in college, named Kitty Lamb.
I guess we like animal names down south...lol!

Also, being a former employee of a vile and god-forsaken major telecommunications company (noooooo...I'm not bitter), I had access to directory assistance files across the country.
My co-workers and I spent many nights passing the time by looking up listings nationwide.
Off the top of my head, I can remember:
Barney and Betty Rubble in Florida
Ken and Brenda Starr in Virginia
Prince Charming in California
Rockett Squirrel in South Carolina
Elmer Fudd in Louisianna
Cinderella Liberty...can't remember where
Numerous Fred Flintstones, Donald Ducks, Wile E. Coyotes and other assorted cartoon character names, and the ultimate in aviation-Hell and Purgatory Airport.
Also, a doctor with a hysterical name, but I'm not sure I can print it here, so just ask me to gram it...hehe.

Maybe Cybersites will pick up Hostboard...
Then there is an Oracle DBA whose name was "Kevan Contractor" who was, of course, a contract DBA (Kevan is the closest I remember of his first name, it was anglicanized).

Regarding names in the phone book, the phone company doesn't really prevent you from listing yourself by any name. I remember a San Francisco columnist (Herb Caen) reporting that there was a listing under the "L's":
Ladyhoo, Yoda
Sure enough, there it was in the San Francisco phone book. Turned out to belong to a private nurse who didn't want to pay for the unlisted number service.

No pun in this name. It just struck me as funny when I was growing up. We had a widowed neighbor named Azora Dutt. She developed a crush on my Dad, who couldn't stand her. At least once a week she would come up with some domestic disaster in need of immediate repair. My Dad would find a million excuses and finally my Mom, with a grin, would urge him to be a good samaritan.

Hi Tracsand! Nice to see you too!
To answer your question...My family is from France on both my mother's and my father's sides. BUT, my French ancestors migrated to Canada (Province of Quebec) in the early 1600's. Funny how some families hang on to old names!

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this here but Gordon R. Dickson passed away a couple days ago. :-(
